Solar Panels: break even?

We have now seen the installation costs and the auto consumption so here are two of the three missing pieces of information.

The resale value: my resale value is set at 4 centimes per kWh

So for my 3.9MWh put back in the grid, it was worth 156€

Not a lot

This same 3.9 MWh at 21.42 centimes would have cost me… 835€

There is also a 1 off payment of 480€ to come

As for VAT, I will need to file in January 2027, 18 months after connection.

So before tax my outlay was 25900-480=25,420 €

My first years income was 634+156=790 €

So I should break even (not counting interest) in 25420/790=32 years

I will update this at the start of 2027 when the tax situation is clear, but so far this is not looking super good.

So before you install Solar panels, unless you are investing for the ‘community’ I have a word of advice.

‘Oh think twice
Cause it’s another day for you and me in paradise’

Just to be clear, my break even point depends on the resale value, Enedis buys at 4 centimes and sells at 21 centimes

Nice Work If You Can Get It
